How to Send Text Between Devices

Paste a link, send a code snippet, or share a note between any two devices. No messaging app needed.

Quick answer: Open sharetexts.online on both devices. Connect them with the pairing code. Type or paste text in the composer. It appears on the other device instantly.

Step by Step

  1. Open ShareText on both devices

Visit sharetexts.online on each device's browser.

  2. Connect the devices

Click Send on one device, enter the 6-digit code on the other. You're now connected.

  3. Type or paste your text

In the composer at the bottom, type your message or paste from clipboard. Press Enter (or tap Send) to transfer it.

What Kind of Text Can You Send?

Links and URLs — Copy a link from one device, paste it into ShareText. It appears on the other device as clickable text.

Code and commands — Move a terminal command, code snippet, or configuration from your phone to your computer (or vice versa).

Notes and drafts — Write a note on one device, have it on the other. No cloud sync needed.

Copied content — Passwords (for temporary use), addresses, phone numbers, error messages.

How Is This Different from a Messaging App?

ShareText doesn't require an account, doesn't store your messages on a server, and doesn't create a conversation history. The text moves between your two devices and that's it. Temporary rooms close automatically.

Is There a Text Length Limit?

ShareText doesn't impose a specific character limit. You can send long notes, full error logs, or multi-page text. Very large text transfers are chunked automatically and won't freeze the interface.
